When analogue meets digital: Creative Intersections Day comes to Plymouth
What happens when centuries-old creative techniques meet immersive technology, digital fabrication and new ways of making?
That question will be explored at Creative Intersections Day 2026, a one-day gathering of artists, makers, designers and creative technologists taking over Market Hall in Devonport on Saturday 7 November.
Part of the annual Print In Action festival, the event is less about choosing between traditional and digital creativity and more about discovering what can happen when the two collide.
Across a full day of talks, discussions, demonstrations, exhibitions and hands-on experiences, visitors will be able to explore everything from printmaking and material processes to immersive media, sound, projection mapping, digital fabrication and emerging technologies.
It feels like a particularly interesting conversation to be having now. As technology changes increasingly quickly – including the rapid development of AI and digital creative tools – artists and makers are continually having to consider what technology means for their own practice.
But Creative Intersections Day isn't simply about replacing analogue processes with digital ones. Instead, it looks at how established skills, physical making and new technology can inform one another, opening up possibilities for experimentation and collaboration.
Market Hall provides a fitting setting for that conversation. Its immersive technology and 15-metre dome have helped create new ways for artists, audiences and technologists to experience work in Plymouth, while Devonport itself has a long history of making, industry and craftsmanship.
The programme begins at 9.15am with coffee and pastries before moving into keynote talks, presentations, demonstrations and opportunities to meet other creatives throughout the day. The event continues into the evening with networking and entertainment.
The Print In Action team said: “Creative Intersections Day is an opportunity to bring together people from across the creative sectors to share ideas, experiment with new approaches and explore how traditional and digital practices can inform one another.”
While the programme has obvious appeal for professional artists and makers, the day is also aimed at emerging creatives, students, educators and cultural organisations – as well as anyone curious about how creativity might evolve as the tools available to us change.
General admission costs £30 plus booking fee, with student tickets available for £10 plus booking fee. Tickets include lunch, a Creative Intersections Day goodie bag and Print In Action tote bag, alongside access to the daytime programme and evening networking and entertainment.
An optional evening food add-on is available for £6.50.
Creative Intersections Day 2026 takes place at Market Hall, Devonport, on Saturday 7 November, from 9.15am–8pm.
