Plymouth Creative and Cultural Sector Survey 2025

Understanding Plymouth’s Creative and Cultural Sector.

Plymouth’s creative and cultural community plays a vital role in shaping the city’s identity, economy, and future. In late 2025, Plymouth Culture commissioned an independent sector-wide survey to better understand the experiences, challenges, opportunities, and ambitions of creatives and cultural organisations working across the city.

The survey gathered responses from 184 people working across Plymouth’s creative and cultural sector, including freelancers, artists, educators, producers, organisations, and creative practitioners working across a wide range of disciplines.

The findings provide an important evidence base to help inform future investment, policy, partnerships, and sector support.

About the Research

The survey was commissioned by Plymouth Culture and independently analysed by Gaia Rosenberg Colorni, Independent Evaluator & Researcher.

Responses were collected online from creative and cultural professionals living and/or working within the Plymouth travel-to-work area. Participants were invited to take part through a range of outreach channels, including targeted email invitations circulated via sector networks, promotion through partner organisations and local cultural institutions, and public sharing on relevant digital platforms such as newsletters and social media.
