Grace Lightman's Gig Guide: July Picks in Plymouth

Summer is in full swing, and so is Plymouth's live music scene. Our Music Ambassador Grace Lightman is back with another carefully curated selection of gigs, festivals and musical experiences that celebrate everything from grassroots artists to large-scale collaborations.

Whether you're looking for a weekend festival, a unique film score, an album listening party or a huge community choir performance, Grace has picked out some of the best live music happening across the city this July.

10 & 11 July – Sound Factory Festival @ The Depo

If you're looking to discover your next favourite artist, Sound Factory Festival should be at the top of your list. Taking over The Depo across two days, this festival celebrates emerging music with an exciting programme of live performances from some of the UK's most exciting new acts.

The festival kicks off on Friday evening before expanding into a full day of music on Saturday, making it the perfect weekend for anyone who loves discovering fresh talent.

11 July – Alt Pride After Party @ The Pit and Pendulum

After celebrating Plymouth Community Pride, keep the party going at this alternative after party hosted by Deart Promotions.

Featuring live performances from SCVMFVZZ, Dredge, Byford Dolphin Incident, and Throb, this promises an evening of heavy sounds, alternative culture and an inclusive atmosphere.

At just £5 on the door, it's one of the best-value nights of the month.

14 July – Simon Dobson & Linus Fenton Album Listening Party @ Market Hall Dome

Music meets immersive technology as composers Simon Dobson and Linus Fenton host a special album listening experience inside the spectacular immersive dome at Market Hall.

Rather than a traditional gig, this event invites audiences to experience new music in a completely different way, surrounded by stunning visuals inside one of Plymouth's most unique cultural venues.

16 July – A Chorus of Hope @ The Quad

More than 100 voices will come together for A Chorus of Hope, a powerful evening celebrating community through song.

Featuring performances from Suthering, Great Sea Choir and Wheelhouse Folk Choir, this promises soaring harmonies, uplifting music and an unforgettable atmosphere in The Quad.

18 July – Rose of Nevada & The Creek Live Scores @ The House

For something completely different, don't miss this double bill of live cinema.

Watch Rose of Nevada, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mark Jenkin, accompanied by a specially composed live score, before experiencing The Creek, brought to life with a live soundtrack performed by The Pit Orchestra alongside Deadlake Films.

It's a rare opportunity to experience film and live music together in a truly immersive way.

18 July – Kate Hall Single Release Show @ The Junction

One of Plymouth's rising singer-songwriters, Kate Hall, celebrates the release of her new single Better Than This with a headline show at The Junction.

Expect an evening of heartfelt songwriting, soaring vocals and the chance to hear new music performed live as Kate marks an exciting milestone in her musical journey.
