Summer Holiday Cinema - Heidi - Rescue of the Lynx (PG)

  • Plymouth Arts Cinema Tavistock Place Plymouth, England, PL4 8AT United Kingdom (map)

Dir. Toby Schwartz, Germany, 2025, 80 mins.

A timeless classic reimagined for a new generation, combining breathtaking visuals, thrilling adventure, and a powerful environmental message, from the writer of The Queen’s Corgi and Gnomeo & Juliet, and the studio behind worldwide hit franchises Maya the Bee and Mia and Me.

When spirited eight-year-old Heidi finds and rescues an injured lynx cub from a trap, she names him Pepper and secretly nurses him back to health. But as the cub’s playful antics draw unwanted attention, Heidi learns of industrial plans that threaten not just the cub, but the entire Alpine ecosystem. With her loyal friend Peter and ever-faithful St. Bernard, Joseph, Heidi embarks on a daring nighttime journey to return Pepper to his family, a brave adventure through the Swiss Alps in which she faces the perils of nature and uncovers her grandfather’s hidden past. In convincing her grandfather to come clean with the village community, Heidi learns that true belonging means protecting both family, and the wild places they call home.

This heartwarming adventure stays true to the spirit of the original work and its beloved characters, while telling a completely new story of the iconic girl from the Swiss Alps. Featuring stunning animation and rich storytelling, Heidi – Rescue of the Lynx promises to captivate audiences of all ages. For over 140 years, Heidi has captured the hearts of children and adults alike. Since her debut in 1880, Johanna Spyri’s timeless story of resilience, joy, and a deep connection to nature has been cherished across generations. Now, Heidi is making her animated film debut in “Heidi – Rescue of the Lynx”.
