Plymouth Poetry Festival, now rebranded as ‘SOUND Poetry Festival’ returns to Plymouth from 10th – 19th April this year.
The festival will bring poets from across the UK down to the city for performance events and workshops over ten days during the Easter holidays.
Headliners including Maria Ferguson, Ella Frears and Fiona Benson will be joined by local artists such as Ed Tapper, Jackie Wacha and Laurie Page for a line-up which seamlessly blends local talent with nationally revered writers.
Festival co-founders Poppy-Jayne Jones, Mimi Jones and Jonah Corren have once again teamed up with local event organisers, and special editions of regular nights such as Shoals of Starlings, Word of Plymouth and WonderZoo will all make an appearance, as well as Exeter-based ‘Spork!’ and Maker Heights’ ‘WORD.’
In addition, a central line-up of performances will take place at venues such as Café Momus, the Box and the Barbican Theatre. These will combine local poets with artists of national renown, such as Ella Frears, Fiona Benson and Belinda Zhawi.
Many of these artists will also deliver intimate, bespoke workshops, with prices heavily subsided.
All performance events across the festival will be pay-what-you-can, with a recommended price of £8 per event.
